ARTIST NOTES: This is a portrait of Vincent Fantauzzo. Known for his award winning portraits of Heath Ledger, Brandon Walters, Matt Moran, Emma Hack, Baz Luhrmann, Asher Keddie and his son Luca Fantauzzo. He has won the Doug Moran national portraiture prize, The Archibald packing room prize and The Archibald Peoples Choice award four times.
Vincent Fantauzzo was diagnosed with dyslexia and now sees it as a gift, he is an inspiration bringing fun and creativity to everything he does. Vincent Fantauzzo has an Art Series Hotel named after him 'The Fantauzzo' and has recently been on Australian story 'The Art of The Possible'.
I tried to capture Vince in a state of pure creativity and inspiration in that moment, as they say, you put pencil to paper, but in this case brush to canvas; the mess of colours on his face and clothes shows the pure chaos I assume most artists are in when their right in the good part of the painting, I know thats the state I'm in when panting.
